| FAQ's
What is an OEM? An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is a company that builds a product that it sells under its own company name and brand. An OEM, such as HP or Epson, will manufacture the product and assign a unique part number to that product. At MSE, we provide the OEM part number to assist you in finding a compatible cartridge.
What is a compatible cartridge? Compatible simply means that though the product is not necessarily an original, it will still fulfill the same purpose. For example, most people do not use HP paper in HP printers; they use something similar that works just as well. In addition, "compatible cartridges" can be separated into two categories. They may contain either "100% new components" or "new and recycled components".
What is a remanufactured cartridge? A remanufactured cartridge is a cartridge that has been manufactured from new and recycled components. It has been "rebuilt" to match the exact specifications of the "original". In many cases, OEM cartridges actually contain "recycled" or "recovered" materials (it's usually listed in fine print on the packaging in an inconspicuous place). In addition, some OEMs even sell their own brand of remanufactured cartridges.
Do compatible or remanufactured cartridges last as long as OEM? All of our MSE compatible or generic remanufactured cartridges are manufactured according to OEM specifications. They are guaranteed to perform as well as the originals. Some MSE Brand products outperform the original page yields by as much as 50%!!! Will a remanufactured cartridge void my machine's warranty? No! Your manufacturer cannot void your machine's warranty for using cartridges other than theirs. However, it may void your service contract if you have a binding agreement to use their supplies. For more information, please consult one of our sales or customer care representatives. I had my cartridge refilled and when I put it back into the printer it said it was empty/low. Why does this happened it was just refilled?! This happens most usually after a cartridge has been refilled. Ink cartridges with printheads attatched to them are actually incapable of reading their own ink level. What occurs is the cartridge keeps a log on its copper contacts (located just above the printhead) how many times you have printed. The computer then performs a calculation on how much ink it estimated to be in the cartridge. If you printer recognizes this cartridge as an old cartridge and reads the history of printing, automatically it will read low or empty. Just ignore these readings and only once the cartridge starts to print lightly or starts to streak will you need a refill. Why should I choose an MSE product? When you purchase MSE Brand products, you simply know what you are getting. Unlike "brown box" or "unbranded" products, the MSE Brand continuously outperforms the competition. We are so proud of it; we even put the MSE name on the box! In addition, we carry the best warranty in the industry. MSE quality standards include testing each component prior to manufacturing, during production, and even after our products are on the shelf. MSE even subjects its products to extreme conditions such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, and simulated shipping conditions to ensure the product performs perfectly in every situation, every time. The result is a high performance product that produces darker prints and sharper graphics - every time. What sort of impact does the inkjet and toner industry have on the environment? Each year, millions of cubic feet of non-biodegradable laser & inkjet cartridges are thrown into our nation's landfills. In 25 years, the total amount of discarded cartridges could fill more than half of the Grand Canyon. What many do not know, however, is that there are companies out there dedicated to recycling cartridges. Can I recycle my empty cartridges? Yes! And we encourage it! There are several companies out there providing various forms of recycling services. The majority of them provide some sort of free shipping label that you may use to send in boxes of empty cartridges. One such company can be found at www.RecycleEmpties.com. You can print free shipping labels directly from the site. Check them out and start recycling! Back
