A cleaning cycle should be run every 4-6 weeks to maintain the quality of your printer. How do I run a cleaning cycle? There are two ways to run a cleaning cycle: 1. From your computer. 2. From the printer itself* *Not all printers can run a cleaning cycle from their printer panel. How to run a cleaning cycle from a PC computer: 1. Select Start. 2. Select Control Panel. 3. Select Printers (terminology will vary between Windows versions). 4. Find your printer listed and right click to select Printing Preferences. 5. In the Printing Preferences menu, select the Maintenance tab. 6. Choose either Cleaning or Deep Cleaning (only use Deep Cleaning if your print quality is severely streaky or not printing at all). 7. Wait for the Cleaning Cycle to complete. If prompted, print test page. Otherwise retry a one page print including all primary colors and black.
How to run a cleaning cycle from a MAC computer: 1. Click on "system preferences" and select "open print and fax."2. Choose the printer that needs to be cleaned and open "Open Print Queue" or "Print Queue." 3. Click the utility icon for the applicable printer and select "maintenance." Select "cleaning" from the pop-up menu and click "OK." You might have to choose the tank you want to have cleaned. 4. Run the head cleaning program and print out a test page. Repeat cleaning 2 to 3 times if needed.
